Gmail debuts a personalized AI Inbox, AI Overviews in search, and more

Google is introducing several AI-powered features to Gmail, including a new AI Inbox designed to proactively surface important tasks and updates. The AI Inbox features sections for “Suggested to-dos” and “Topics to catch up on,” providing summaries of priority emails and relevant updates from services like Lululemon and Wealthfront. Additionally, Gmail is launching AI Overviews in search, allowing users to ask natural language questions to quickly find information within their inbox. A new “Proofread” feature, similar to Grammarly, will help users refine their writing. Many of these features, previously exclusive to paid subscribers, are now being rolled out to all users, alongside existing features like “Help Me Write” and “Suggested Replies”. Google emphasizes that these AI features are optional and that personal data is not used for model training.
