Microsoft will put buy buttons directly in Copilot

Microsoft is introducing a new feature called Copilot Checkout that enables users to complete purchases directly within conversations with the Copilot AI chatbot. When a user seeks product suggestions, Copilot can now display a "Buy" option alongside recommendations. Selecting this option opens an in-app checkout screen where users can input shipping and payment details to confirm the purchase without leaving the application or visiting a retailer's website. This feature mirrors similar built-in checkout capabilities launched by OpenAI in ChatGPT and aligns with a broader industry trend of AI agents assisting with shopping. Microsoft is rolling out this in-chat checkout on Copilot.com in the US, initially partnering with retailers like Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, and Ashley Furniture, with payment processing powered by PayPal, Stripe, and Shopify.
