Amazon says 97% of its devices can support Alexa+

At CES, Amazon VP Daniel Rausch revealed that 97% of the over 600 million devices shipped by the company can support Alexa+, its future generative AI platform. Alexa+ offers expressive voices, world knowledge, and AI agents to perform tasks for customers. While there is no universal availability date, Amazon is prioritizing rolling it out to Prime members first. Rausch believes Alexa's existing, familiar, and ambient presence in millions of homes provides a significant advantage over other specialized AIs, positioning it as one of the foundational assistants. Amazon is also expanding Alexa's reach via a web interface, a redesigned app, and integrating with partners like Samsung and BMW, alongside promoting its recent acquisition of the AI wearable Bee.
