Anthropic announces Claude for Healthcare following OpenAI’s ChatGPT Health reveal

Anthropic has introduced Claude for Healthcare, a suite of tools designed for healthcare providers, payers, and patients, shortly after OpenAI unveiled ChatGPT Health. Similar to its competitor, Claude for Healthcare will allow users to sync health data from personal devices, though both companies assure this data will not be used for model training. Anthropic suggests its offering is more sophisticated, focusing on features like "agent skills" and "connectors" that grant the AI access to critical databases such as CMS Coverage Database, ICD-10, and PubMed. These connectors aim to expedite administrative tasks like prior authorization review, which Anthropic CPO Mike Krieger noted clinicians spend too much time on instead of patient care. While acknowledging that people already use LLMs for health discussions, both Anthropic and OpenAI caution users to seek professional medical advice for reliable guidance.
