AI journalism startup Symbolic.ai signs deal with Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp

Symbolic.ai, an AI journalism startup co-founded by former eBay CEO Devin Wenig and Jon Stokes, has secured a significant deal with Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. The startup aims to move AI use in newsrooms beyond mere experimentation by integrating its platform into News Corp's financial news hub, Dow Jones Newswires. Symbolic.ai claims its platform can significantly boost productivity, achieving gains up to 90% in complex research tasks, while also streamlining editorial workflows through features like transcription, fact-checking, headline optimization, and SEO advice. This move follows News Corp's prior licensing agreement with OpenAI in 2024 and its expressed interest in partnering with other AI companies.
