Apple is turning Siri into an AI bot that’s more like ChatGPT

Apple is planning a significant overhaul for Siri, transforming the voice assistant into an AI chatbot integrated into iPhone and Mac, according to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg. This update, reportedly arriving later this year, will replace the current Siri interface and allow users to interact via both typing and talking, mirroring chatbots from companies like OpenAI and Google. This new chatbot version, codenamed Campos, is separate from other AI personalization features coming soon and is expected to use a custom Google Gemini AI model, offering capabilities that "significantly surpass" the personalization features. Apple is rumored to unveil this major Siri AI update at its Worldwide Developers Conference in June, with a launch alongside iOS 17 and macOS 17 in September, where it will be the primary new feature.
