Microsoft Paint can now make AI coloring books

Microsoft is updating its Paint and Notepad apps on Windows with new AI capabilities, currently rolling out to Windows Insiders on the Canary and Dev channels of Windows 11. The most notable new feature in Paint (version 11.2512.191.0) is "Coloring book," which generates four blank coloring templates based on a user's text prompt, accessible via the Copilot menu. This feature is exclusively available on Copilot Plus PCs, suggesting Microsoft is using it to market its AI-infused devices. Paint is also receiving a fill tolerance slider for better control over the Fill tool. Meanwhile, the Notepad update (version 11.2512.10.0) introduces streaming AI results for Write, Rewrite, and Summarize features, a new welcome screen, and expanded Markdown support, including strikethrough and nested lists.
