Google Search now lets you ask AI Overviews follow-up questions

Google is enhancing its AI-powered search features by integrating Gemini 3 into AI Overviews and enabling users to ask follow-up questions directly, shifting Search closer to a chatbot experience. According to Google Search VP Robby Stein, users can now transition easily from a quick AI Overview summary to a deeper conversation using AI Mode by simply scrolling and typing. Gemini 3 is now the default model powering these global summaries, expected to provide "best-in-class" answers following mixed results with previous models. This move is part of a larger strategic shift at Google emphasizing AI interactions over traditional links in Search.
