ChatGPT isn’t the only chatbot pulling answers from Elon Musk’s Grokipedia

Grokipedia, Elon Musk's AI-generated encyclopedia, is being cited by various AI tools, including ChatGPT, Google's AI Overviews, AI Mode, and Gemini, with its usage on the rise since launching last October. While still a minor source compared to Wikipedia, data shows Grokipedia references are increasing, raising concerns about accuracy and misinformation. Analysts note that AI tools often use Grokipedia for niche queries, but ChatGPT tends to give it more authority than Google's AI Overviews, which use it as a supplementary reference. Experts warn that Grokipedia, produced by the Grok chatbot and lacking transparent human oversight, is susceptible to data poisoning and has previously published racist, transphobic, and factually incorrect content, making its use as a source risky for spreading disinformation.
