Linux's b4 Kernel Development Tool Now Dog-Feeding Its AI Agent Code Review Helper
Summary
Konstantin Ryabitsev, lead developer of the b4 tool used by Linux kernel developers for patch workflow management, has been developing a text user interface (TUI) called "b4 review tui." This TUI allows developers to optionally use AI agents, such as Claude Code, to assist with code reviews. Ryabitsev recently achieved a milestone by successfully dog-feeding the system, meaning the AI-assisted review feature reviewed patches for the b4 tool itself. While noting that refinements are still needed, he confirmed the process is already performing useful functions. This integration aims to augment existing workflows for kernel developers, and a screencast demonstrating the terminal-based process is available. Separately, progress is also being made on AI code review prompt helpers by Chris Mason at Meta.
