ChatGPT’s deep research tool adds a built-in document viewer so you can read its reports

OpenAI is enhancing ChatGPT's deep research tool by introducing a full-screen, built-in document viewer. This feature allows users to scroll through and navigate specific sections of AI-generated reports in a separate window, complete with a table of contents on the left and a list of sources on the right. The deep research capability, originally launched last year, lets ChatGPT scour the web for in-depth reports on user-selected topics, and users can now direct the research to focus on specific websites and connected apps. Furthermore, users can track progress in real-time, edit the research scope, or add new sources during generation. Completed reports can be downloaded in formats like Markdown, Word, and PDF. These updates are rolling out immediately for Plus and Pro users, with free and ChatGPT Go subscribers receiving them in the coming days.
