OpenAI Codex and Figma launch seamless code-to-design experience

OpenAI and Figma are deepening their partnership by launching a new integration that connects OpenAI Codex directly to the Figma design platform via the Figma MCP Server. This enables product builders to move seamlessly between generating Figma designs from Codex and implementing designs from Figma files back into code, creating a roundtrip workflow that speeds up iteration and shipping. The integration utilizes MCP, an open-source standard, to allow AI agents to interface with external tools. Both companies emphasize that this connection softens the boundary between engineering and design roles, allowing engineers to iterate visually and designers to work closer to implementation. This builds upon their existing collaboration, which includes the Figma app in ChatGPT and the use of OpenAI models across Figma’s platform. Codex, which has seen significant growth with over 1 million weekly users, is now connecting its code-first workflows with Figma's collaborative design canvas to unlock new ways to build applications.
