Hegseth threatens Anthropic over killer AI limits

These red lines, articulated by CEO Dario Amodei, specifically forbid using the AI for mass surveillance of Americans and for fully-autonomous drone swarms, citing concerns that autonomous weapons lack the human safeguard of disobeying illegal orders. Hegseth reportedly threatened to use the Act or cut ties with Anthropic if they do not comply. The conflict highlights the shifting debate in military AI integration, moving from a 'human in the loop' to a 'human on the loop' supervisory role.
