AMD has released ROCm 7.2.3, a minor update to its open-source GPU compute and AI stack. While there are no new hardware or operating system support changes, the release addresses performance issues in vLLM profiling and includes reliability enhancements for MIGraphX, particularly regarding the gather operator and ONNX Runtime.
A significant addition in this release is updated documentation for ROCm XIO. Introduced as an early-access technology preview in April, ROCm XIO is an API that enables accelerator-initiated I/O, allowing AMD GPUs to communicate directly with NVMe SSDs, RDMA NICs, and SDMA engines without host processor intervention. The technology remains in a preview state as development continues.
