Perplexity’s Personal Computer is now available everyone on Mac

TechCrunch
Perplexity has released its Personal Computer desktop app for all Mac users to enable local AI agent workflows.

Summary

Perplexity has announced the general availability of its "Personal Computer" desktop application for all Mac users. Moving beyond cloud-only AI, this tool allows AI agents to access local files, native Mac applications, and over 400 connectors to manage complex, multi-step personal workflows directly on the user's device.

Designed to compete with local AI agents like OpenClaw, Personal Computer aims to provide a more secure environment by leveraging a secure development environment on Perplexity’s servers. The application can orchestrate tools and leverage personal context, and when paired with the Comet web browser, it can operate web-based tools seamlessly.

Additional features include the ability to run autonomous agents on always-on hardware like a Mac Mini, which can be managed remotely via iPhone. As the company shifts focus to this new application, the previous version of the Perplexity Mac app will be deprecated. The software is currently available via direct download rather than the Mac App Store.
