Imperial Valley Computer Manufacturing (IVCM), led by developer Sebastian Rucci, has filed a lawsuit against the Imperial Irrigation District (IID) to secure 260 million gallons of Colorado River water annually for a proposed data center. Despite earlier promises to rely solely on recycled municipal wastewater, IVCM turned to the IID after negotiations with local cities collapsed. The project faces significant local opposition and regulatory hurdles, including potential development moratoriums. IVCM argues that its water demand would be offset by leaving 160 acres of leased farmland fallow, thereby diverting that allocation to the data center.
