Amazon will stop accepting new customers for Mechanical Turk

Amazon has announced that its long-standing crowdsourcing platform, Mechanical Turk, will stop accepting new customers starting July 30, 2026. While existing customers may continue to use the service, Amazon has indicated it will no longer introduce new features, effectively placing the platform on maintenance mode. Launched in 2005, Mechanical Turk served as a marketplace for simple, human-performed tasks and later played a significant role in training AI models. However, the platform faced criticism regarding labor ethics and data reliability, especially as recent trends showed workers increasingly using AI to complete the tasks assigned to them.
