Anthropic releases Opus 5 with ‘close’ to Fable 5’s capabilities

Anthropic has released its newest AI model, Claude Opus 5, which the company states approaches the capabilities of Fable 5 across various domains while offering superior complex coding performance. Marketed primarily to enterprise customers for knowledge work, biology, and everyday tasks, Opus 5 features improved cybersecurity safeguards and alignment compared to its predecessor. Despite government scrutiny surrounding previous models, Anthropic confirmed that Opus 5 underwent independent testing by government partners. The new model maintains the same pricing as Opus 4.8 at $5 per million input tokens and $25 per million output tokens, making it half the price of Fable 5, and introduces a research preview of "Fast mode" for doubled speed at twice the cost.
