OpenAI delays ChatGPT’s ‘adult mode’ again

OpenAI has delayed the launch of "adult mode," a planned ChatGPT feature intended to give verified adult users access to content like erotica. CEO Sam Altman initially announced the feature in October, promising its release in December under the principle of treating adult users as adults. The launch was previously delayed from December, following an internal memo from Altman prioritizing the core ChatGPT experience. An OpenAI spokesperson informed Axios that the delay is necessary to focus on higher-priority work for more users, such as improving intelligence, personality, and making the chatbot more proactive. While OpenAI still supports the principle, they stated that perfecting the experience will require more time, though the duration of the new delay remains unclear.
