Jensen Huang compares not using AI to using “paper and pencil” to design chips, as he explains Nvidia’s massive token budget

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang stated that he expects the company's engineers to utilize a significant budget of AI tokens, estimating that the company plans to spend between two and three billion dollars annually on tokens for its engineering team. Huang emphasized that engineers earning $500,000 annually should consume at least $250,000 worth of tokens, comparing those who underutilize AI to a chip designer who chooses to use only "paper and pencil" instead of modern CAD tools. He views the adoption of AI agents as a fundamental shift in programming, allowing engineers to focus more on high-level ideas, architectures, and specifications.
