Poppy debuts a proactive AI assistant to help organize your digital life

Poppy is a new app designed to combat smartphone distractions by integrating various services like calendar, email, and messages into a single dashboard. It uses AI to understand user needs and provide proactive suggestions, such as recommending a break in a park if a gap exists in the schedule. Users can also interact with Poppy through messages for tasks like flight tracking or medication reminders. Founded by Sai Kambampati, who has a background in human-computer interaction and AI, Poppy aims to create ambient computing experiences. The app currently supports popular services like Apple Calendar, Google Calendar, Gmail, and WhatsApp, with plans to expand. Poppy prioritizes user data security with encryption and a zero-retention policy for cloud-based LLMs, with a long-term goal of transitioning to on-device AI models. The San Francisco-based company has secured $1.25 million in pre-seed funding.
