OpenAI launches ChatGPT for personal finance, will let you connect bank accounts

OpenAI has launched a new personal finance tool for ChatGPT Pro subscribers in the U.S., enabling them to connect bank accounts and ask financial questions. Partnering with Plaid, the tool allows connections to over 12,000 financial institutions, providing users with dashboards for portfolio performance, spending, and future planning. This development follows OpenAI's recent acquisition of the team behind personal finance startup Hiro. Users can access the feature by selecting 'Finances' or typing '@Finances, connect my accounts' in ChatGPT. The company plans to support Intuit soon for tax and credit approval analysis. OpenAI noted that over 200 million users already ask financial questions monthly and that the GPT-5.5 model is enhanced for contextual reasoning crucial for finance. The tool is available on ChatGPT web and iOS for Pro users, with plans for wider release to Plus users based on feedback. Users can manage and remove account connections, with synced data being deleted after 30 days.
