Building the infrastructure for the Intelligence Age in Michigan

OpenAI, alongside Governor Gretchen Whitmer and partners like Oracle and Walbridge, has begun construction on 'The Barn', a 1GW data center in Saline, Michigan. The project emphasizes community benefit by ensuring local ratepayers are shielded from infrastructure costs, employing closed-loop water cooling, and generating thousands of union construction and permanent jobs. Furthermore, the initiative includes a $10 million community investment and a $45 million commitment in AI tool access for Michigan students. This project is a key component of OpenAI's 'Stargate' program, designed to advance AI capabilities through large-scale infrastructure while supporting American reindustrialization.
