Cloudflare has announced the open-sourcing of Cloudflare OS under an Apache 2.0 license, positioning it as an AI "operating system" rather than a traditional computer OS. The platform serves two main purposes: boosting organizational productivity with AI securely and managing AI workloads analogously to how traditional operating systems manage compute workloads. Cloudflare OS combines three primary components: an agent workspace with an isolated runtime for code execution, a new security and governance framework for internal data access, and a platform for building and sharing modifiable personal apps.
