Expanding our support for scientists

As Claude becomes increasingly capable at scientific research, Anthropic is focusing on building products and programs to support the research community. In June, the company launched Claude Science, a product that integrates the tools researchers most commonly use, produces auditable artifacts, and provides flexible access to computing resources. The AI for Science program already provides free credits to researchers working on high‑impact scientific projects. Starting today, Anthropic announces a significant expansion: a new Claude team plan for scientists opens 10,000 seats worldwide—standard seats are free and premium seats with 5× usage limits are available for $15 per month for one year. The program will be extended well beyond the initial 10,000 seats. Researchers can also apply for up to $50,000 in credits per project through the AI for Science program. The expansion broadens support beyond biology to other compute‑heavy fields such as work on the Riemann zeta function and protein design. Access for biology and chemistry remains limited to Opus‑class models, while Claude Fable continues to block professional biology and drug‑development queries due to dual‑use risks. A partnership with the US government will enable Mythos‑class model access for life‑sciences R&D. Additionally, Anthropic is previewing the Model Hardware Standard (MHS) for safe AI agent operation and launching a $5 million grant program to fund independent research into AI’s impact on wellbeing.
