Microsoft’s Project Zenith is a ‘distraction-free Windows experience’ for developers

Microsoft has officially named its developer‑focused Windows experience Project Zenith, a preconfigured setup designed for new devices with 64 GB or more of unified memory. The first Project Zenith PC, unveiled by AMD at IFA, is powered by Ryzen AI Halo chips and will be followed by additional models in the coming months. These devices come with a curated suite of developer tools—including Visual Studio Code, GitHub Copilot, PowerToys, WinAppCLI and Windows Dev Skills—as well as a distraction‑free Windows configuration: File Explorer shows extensions and full paths, recently used items and sync tips are disabled, and the Command Palette is enabled by default. According to Logan Iyer, CVP of Windows platform and developer, the initiative reflects Microsoft’s response to developer feedback and its commitment to evolving Windows alongside AI‑driven development. The effort is part of Microsoft’s broader push to improve Windows 11 and reduce reliance on metered cloud resources.
