Void Linux Maintainer Orphans 100+ Packages Over AI Policy Dispute

A Void Linux maintainer, Andrea Brancaleoni, orphaned over 113 packages he maintained following a dispute about the project's AI policy. The issue arose when Brancaleoni used AI tools (specifically GLM-5.3-Flash + OpenCode) to generate comments for a Go package update pull request. Another maintainer questioned the source of the text, and it was revealed that the usage was not disclosed, violating Void Linux's contributing policy which requires all AI tool usage to be disclosed and states that contribution content must originate from and be understood by the human contributor. In response to this policy enforcement, Brancaleoni decided to orphan all packages under his maintenance. The orphaned packages include significant software such as Alacritty, Docker tools, Kubernetes, various Python packages, and Intel Thermald, which will now require new maintainers to step forward.
