Meta is going to let you build games with AI right on your phone

Meta announced two new AI-powered game development tools for its Horizon social platform: Horizon Create, a mobile app, and Horizon Studio, a browser app with more granular controls. Published games will be recommended and playable directly on Facebook and Instagram, allowing users to jump into multiplayer sessions with a tap. Games that are engaging, stable, and culturally relevant will receive greater reach. The announcement comes as competitor Roblox also pushes AI-powered development. Horizon has struggled to gain traction, reporting only 300,000 monthly users in early 2022 compared to Roblox's 123 million daily active users. Despite skepticism about AI-generated game quality, Meta claims both tools can produce complete 2D or 3D mobile games with progression systems, multiplayer, and other core elements.
