Meta is giving US Muse subscribers a free Home Link gadget that lets its AI agent control smart home devices on your Wi-Fi network.

Summary

Meta is offering a free USB-C gadget called Muse Home Link to Muse subscribers in the United States, allowing its cloud-based Muse AI agent to control devices on the user's home network, such as lights, TVs, and printers. The coin-sized device, which launched on Friday, plugs into any USB-C or USB-A power source near a router and pairs with the Muse app via Bluetooth. It contains an Espressif ESP32-C5 chip, Wi-Fi 6 support, and runs only official firmware, though the underlying ESP32 software is open source. Muse's abilities with the device depend on community-written "skills", with popular integrations including Philips Hue, Sonos, Apple TV, Google Nest speakers, and Samsung TVs, as well as anything with a local HTTP API. Meta warns that skills "can change or break" and should not be relied upon for safety-critical uses like home security, emergencies, or medical needs. The offer is limited to one per subscriber, ships in October on a first-come, first-served basis, and is US-only. It remains unclear whether the free Muse plan counts as an active subscription and how many units are available. Separately, Meta has open sourced SDKs for ESP32, Raspberry Pi, and Linux computers under the Apache 2.0 licence, letting enthusiasts build their own Muse gadgets, with example projects including Waveshare touch screens, M5Stack StickS3, and Home Assistant voice devices.
