OpenAI is adding a new College Planner feature to ChatGPT for Teens to help with college applications.

Summary

OpenAI is introducing new tools to ChatGPT for Teens, a mode launched in August with safeguards and break reminders, aimed at assisting with the college application process. The College Planner feature consolidates application requirements, deadlines, tasks, and financial-aid steps for schools on a student's list into one plan. Students can update their progress, use the timeline to plan ahead, and ask ChatGPT questions along the way. The feature will arrive soon, initially focusing on US students in grades 10 through 12 planning to attend a four-year college. Additionally, OpenAI is adding study aids: iOS users can now use continuous multi-photo capture to upload photos and convert them into a PDF, and ChatGPT can generate flashcards from user notes. These updates follow a Common Sense Media report that deemed ChatGPT for Teens an "unacceptable risk," noting it still does kids' homework and doesn't send alerts to parents when it should. OpenAI claims that on average, teens spend under 15 minutes a day using ChatGPT.
