Introducing the Anthropic Cyber Mission
Summary
Anthropic is launching the Anthropic Cyber Mission, a long-term initiative to secure the systems everyone depends on by providing defenders with tools, research, and resources. The mission begins with two key areas: critical infrastructure and open-source software. For critical infrastructure, the new Critical Infrastructure Defense Program (CIDP) partners with companies like Accenture, CrowdStrike, and Palo Alto Networks to bring frontier Claude models, on-site engineers, and threat research to operators of power grids, water systems, and transportation networks. For open-source software, Anthropic introduces OSS Scanner, a free opt-in service that gives open-source projects regular security scans from Anthropic's most capable models, with reports including proof of concept, explanations, and suggested fixes. The mission also expands the Cyber Verification Program and builds on lessons from Project Glasswing to address the growing cyber threats from state-sponsored adversaries and AI-enabled attacks. Anthropic aims to reduce cyber risk by accelerating vulnerability discovery, verification, and patching, with the goal that in two years AI will favor defense.
