ChatGPT can peek at your Chrome tabs now
Summary
OpenAI has upgraded ChatGPT's Google Chrome extension, allowing it to access and interact with the browser tabs you already have open. When you tag Chrome in ChatGPT's web or desktop app, the assistant can now view and compare content across multiple tabs—for example, comparing sofas you're considering. The extension also enables ChatGPT to control your Chrome tabs for tasks like sending messages, filling out forms, and downloading files, similar to Google's Gemini-powered "auto browse" feature. Additionally, ChatGPT in the sidebar has been updated with "the full power of ChatGPT" and your entire conversation history in Chat or Work, usable without leaving the page you're viewing. The update comes as OpenAI's dedicated ChatGPT Atlas browser has been discontinued.
