ChatGPT now lets you lock your chats
Summary
OpenAI announced a new feature called Locked Chats that lets users lock specific ChatGPT conversations to keep them private. Users can secure locked chats with a four-digit PIN or biometric authentication like Face ID or Touch ID. Unlike Temporary Chats, Locked Chats can be revisited anytime. The feature is designed for situations where users might discuss personal matters or plan surprises and want to keep those conversations private when sharing their device. Locked chats are moved to a dedicated section, separate from regular chat history, pinned conversations, and search results. With Memory enabled, Locked Chats have their own memory that doesn't leak into regular chats. However, locking a chat doesn't provide end-to-end encryption, doesn't change data retention policies, and doesn't remove previously remembered information. Resetting the PIN permanently deletes all locked chats and associated content. The feature is available on most ChatGPT plans except for Healthcare, and is rolling out starting Tuesday.
