ChatGPT Ads expands to 26 new countries as over 100,000 advertisers have used the platform
Summary
OpenAI announced that more than 100,000 advertisers have run campaigns on ChatGPT since ads launched just over eight months ago. The company is now expanding ChatGPT Ads to 26 additional countries, extending availability to 89 countries worldwide, building on recent launches across Europe, Southeast Asia, and Taiwan.
The new expansion includes 14 more Latin American countries such as Argentina, Chile, Colombia, and Peru following launches in Mexico and Brazil, plus markets across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia including Nigeria, South Africa, Serbia, Ukraine, Cambodia, Bangladesh, and Pakistan. Advertisers can access ChatGPT Ads through technology partners or self-service via Ads Manager. Ads appear only on the Free and Go plans, while Plus, Pro, and Enterprise subscriptions remain ad-free.
OpenAI emphasizes that advertising supports free and low-cost access to ChatGPT and is guided by its ads principles: conversations remain private from advertisers, customer data is not sold, ads are clearly labeled and separate from ChatGPT's answers, and advertising does not influence the answers provided. The next phase of growth will include additional ad formats, objectives, buying options, and measurement capabilities.
