Anthropic takes on Muse with Claude Duet, its new AI agent

The Verge
Anthropic launched Claude Duet, a new AI agent for professionals and small businesses, as a research preview.

Summary

Anthropic announced Claude Duet, a new AI agent positioned as a competitor to Meta's Muse and OpenAI's Dots. Built around Claude Opus 5.5 and launching as a "research preview," it is available as a standalone iOS and Android app and through Claude on the web. Duet sends users a morning brief on important items across connected apps, monitors those apps, and only messages users when something needs attention. It can handle tasks ranging from scheduling meetings to building dashboards, creating financial or sales forecasts, prototyping, and building web apps. It pulls in memory, skills, and connected apps from Claude, and includes a virtual machine with a browser for completing work; before major actions like sending a payment or deleting something, it requests approval. It also features a new dedicated classifier and safety system prompt designed to reject requests to share the strictest tier of information, such as credit card numbers. Anthropic cautions that Duet is an early version that may misread a thread or miscalibrate urgency, and that it is not as strong at personal errands like booking tickets. Access is via a waitlist, limited to Pro or Max subscribers in the US.
