Meta gets ready to launch two new Ray-Ban AI glasses

Meta and its hardware partner EssilorLuxottica are nearing the launch of the next generation of Ray-Ban AI glasses, evidenced by FCC filings for two new production units. The filings reveal marketing names "RayBan Meta Scriber" (model RW7002) and "RayBan Meta Blazer" (model RW7001), with the Blazer coming in regular and large sizes. The significant jump in model numbers suggests potential hardware upgrades, possibly including a newer chipset. A key technical detail is the use of the Wi-Fi 6 UNII-4 band, which could improve reliability for high-speed data transfers like livestreaming and AI features. Ray-Ban AI glasses have been successful, selling over seven million pairs last year, leading Meta to shift investment focus toward glasses and wearables within Reality Labs, even as it reduces VR investments.
