Gen Alpha boys are preferring “AI girlfriends” over real ones

A survey of 1,000 boys aged 12 to 16 by Male Allies UK indicates a growing preference for AI chatbots over human relationships. Findings show that 36% of participants prefer interacting with AI, and 20% know peers in romantic relationships with chatbots. The report highlights that AI offers users control, validation, and submissiveness, which experts fear may lead to negative consequences for real-world social development. Additionally, the study exposed troubling trends regarding the use of AI for generating non-consensual sexualized imagery involving friends and family members.
