Google Home’s Gemini AI can handle more complicated requests

Google has released an upgrade to its smart home assistant, moving to Gemini 3.1 to improve the interpretation and execution of user commands. The update allows users to combine multiple tasks into a single voice request and provides better support for managing recurring or flexible calendar events. These enhancements follow earlier improvements in natural language understanding and device identification, aimed at addressing previous performance bugs. In addition to the Gemini upgrade, Google introduced new features including a web-based interface for desktop smart home management and improved notifications featuring direct-action buttons.
