YouTube takes baby steps to being a real podcast app

YouTube is enhancing its podcast listening experience for Premium subscribers with the introduction of an audio-first 'on-the-go mode.' This feature replaces video with static imagery and provides simplified playback controls, which can be triggered manually or automatically when movement is detected. Additionally, YouTube is rolling out an auto-speed feature that dynamically adjusts playback velocity based on content density, alongside an AI-powered search tool that allows users to receive personalized podcast recommendations through chatbot prompts.
