Meta’s new Muse Image model can pull other Instagram users into AI photos

Meta has introduced Muse Image, the first AI image generation model developed by its Superintelligence Labs division. The model is integrated into Meta AI, Instagram, and WhatsApp, with plans to expand to Facebook and Messenger. A notable feature allows users to @ mention other Instagram accounts in prompts, enabling the AI to use public photos to incorporate those users' likenesses into generated images, provided the users have not opted out of such reuse.

Designed to be agentic, Muse Image works alongside the Muse Spark language model to reason through prompts, search the web, and plan before generating content. Beyond social features, the model supports image transformation, room redesigns based on external photos, and direct editing tools. Additionally, Meta announced that Muse Image will power 30 new AI effects for Instagram Stories in the United States, with a wider global rollout expected soon.
