Private Claude chats exposed on Google search results

A privacy oversight has led to private Claude AI conversations and shared artifacts being indexed by Google search engines. Users discovered that using Claude's share feature generated public links that web crawlers could easily find, exposing sensitive data such as internal company documents, medical records, and personal information. While Anthropic maintains that the system is working as intended and that shareable links are public, security experts point out a dangerous gap between user expectations and web architecture safeguards, noting that a lack of 'noindex' tags allowed private discussions to become fully searchable on the open web.
