Okta buys AI security startup Permiso; source says for about $200M

Okta has agreed to acquire AI identity security startup Permiso Security in a deal valued at just under $200 million, structured almost entirely as cash, with closure expected in the third quarter of fiscal 2027. Co-founded in 2022 by former FireEye executives Paul Nguyen and Jason Martin, Permiso specializes in detecting suspicious post-login activity in cloud environments and has recently expanded to monitor AI agents and machine identities. This acquisition bolsters Okta's identity threat detection and response capabilities as enterprises increasingly deploy autonomous software.
