Reddit is introducing a new moderator: AI

Reddit is introducing a new suite of automated moderation tools called Rules Hub, which rely on large language models to help moderators manage their communities. Unlike traditional keyword-matching tools, Rules Hub can evaluate posts and comments based on intent, handling nuance and edge cases while keeping human moderators in control. The feature is currently expanding to all newly created communities, with a full launch expected later in 2026, and will eventually replace many legacy Automod enforcement workflows. Additionally, Reddit announced plans to require new third-party apps to transition to its Developer Platform instead of the public API, alongside further changes to old Reddit to combat unauthorized data scraping.
