OpenAI has announced that its new custom AI chip, Jalapeño, can complete tasks more efficiently and deliver faster responses than competing systems. Developed in partnership with Broadcom, the Application-Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) is designed for AI inference. According to benchmarks using the InferenceX platform, Jalapeño outperformed top Nvidia superchips by offering higher work-per-watt metrics and significantly lower end-to-end latency across various AI models.
