OpenAI announced that it is bringing voice-based agentic features to the ChatGPT mobile app, allowing users to trigger workflows such as drafting documents, creating emails, and summarizing Slack messages using their voice. Plus and Pro subscribers will gain access to the Work tab on their phones, enabling them to build websites, create presentations, use a cloud browser, and manage finances within ChatGPT. Free and Go users will receive access to plugins and connected apps. The update also introduces richer text output for voice conversations, seamless switching between text and voice, and the ability to start a conversation on mobile and resume it on desktop. The rollout follows OpenAI's July launch of GPT-Live, which was previously integrated with the desktop app for Work tab and Codex tab tasks. In contrast to Anthropic, which recently made mobile-to-desktop handoff easier and merged its Cowork and Chat interface, OpenAI is keeping chat and workspaces separate.
