DoorDash launches an AI agent you can text to order food

DoorDash announced on Wednesday the launch of a text-to-order AI agent that enables users to place food orders through Apple Messages. The agent understands prompts like "order my usual" and can search local restaurants, suggest carts, handle group orders with mixed dietary preferences, and even send photos of recommended dishes. This move aims to give DoorDash an edge over rivals Uber Eats and Grubhub, and reflects the growing trend of personal AI agents that simplify tasks. DoorDash is opening a waitlist for U.S. users to try the feature, and will also begin testing delivery drones with select restaurants in Northern California.
