Atlassian and OpenAI expand partnership to turn enterprise knowledge into action
Summary
Atlassian and OpenAI are expanding their partnership to integrate GPT‑6 family frontier models across Atlassian's platform and Rovo. Rovo combines OpenAI intelligence with Atlassian's Teamwork Graph, an enterprise context layer connecting people, projects, documents, and decisions. The agreement gives Atlassian access to the latest OpenAI frontier models, including GPT‑6 Astra and the GPT‑5.6 series. More than 3,000 Atlassian developers already use Codex, and Atlassian plugins powered by the Teamwork Graph let Codex users access work items and technical documentation. OpenAI will continue using Jira for critical workflows. Through OpenAI APIs, Atlassian can bring new reasoning capabilities into Rovo as models advance. For example, Rovo can connect Jira tickets, Confluence documents, and discussions to identify blockers, flag missed milestones, and surface decisions. The collaboration extends to ChatGPT and Codex via Atlassian and Teamwork Graph CLI plugins, and Atlassian launched a plugin extension bringing Jira, Confluence, and people into ChatGPT and Codex prompts. The companies are exploring deeper Jira integrations to assign work to AI agents, track progress, capture decisions, and review results, and with DX, measure AI's impact on development speed, cycle time, and developer experience while keeping humans in control.
