Netflix buys Ben Affleck’s AI filmmaking company InterPositive

Netflix announced the acquisition of InterPositive, an AI filmmaking technology company founded by Ben Affleck in 2022, aligning with Netflix's strategy to leverage generative AI in content creation. InterPositive's technology is not designed to create synthetic performances but rather offers a model that assists production teams in post-production by addressing continuity issues, lighting adjustments, and environmental enhancements using footage from their own productions. Affleck stated the goal was to preserve human judgment and creativity in storytelling, ensuring the tools are built with restraints to keep creative decisions with artists. As part of the deal, Affleck will join Netflix as a senior advisor, though financial terms were not disclosed. Netflix's Chief Product and Technology Officer, Elizabeth Stone, emphasized that the acquisition reflects a shared belief that innovation should empower storytellers.
