Google says 75% of the company's new code is AI-generated

Google has announced that 75% of its new software code is now generated by AI and subsequently reviewed by human engineers. This represents a significant increase from previous years, moving from 25% in late 2024 to 50% by the fall of 2025. CEO Sundar Pichai highlighted that the shift toward autonomous, agentic workflows has drastically improved efficiency, citing a complex code migration completed six times faster than previously possible. To support this transition, Google is integrating its Gemini models into daily development tasks and incorporating AI-related goals into employee performance reviews.
