Google takes a page out of Meta’s book, announces new audio-powered smart glasses

Google has officially re-entered the smart glasses market by announcing a new line of AI-powered "audio glasses" at the Google I/O event. Developed in collaboration with Warby Parker, Gentle Monster, and Samsung, the devices are designed to integrate with both Android and iOS platforms.

The glasses enable users to interact with Google’s ecosystem, including Gemini, through verbal commands. This move marks a strategic shift for Google, which previously faced criticism with its original Google Glass project. By adopting an audio-first approach, the company aims to compete with Meta and other firms currently dominating the evolving smart wearables space.
